“We are excited to bring to readers everywhere the remarkably personal and emotionally powerful story of Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex. For Harry, this is his story at last,” the announcement added.

The cover of the memoir was kept very simple, featuring a close-up shot of Prince Harry, looking directly into the camera with his name “Prince Harry” written at the top, and the title of the book “Spare” written down.

Prince Harry’s “Spare” will debut on Jan. 10, 2023.

The publication date of the royal family member’s memoir was revealed on Wednesday by the New York Times, “after months of frantic anticipation.”

In July 2021, it was revealed that Harry was working on a novel. Although its original publishing date was slated for November, it was pushed back due to Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8th.

Royal author, Tom Bower said earlier this month that the book will include a chapter on the late monarch’s funeral. The writer also noted that Harry’s loved ones are “hugely nervous” about his memoir, referring to it as a “ticking time bomb.”

Penguin Random House highlighted the former military pilot’s “raw, unapologetic honesty” in a press statement issued on Wednesday.

“SPARE takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow and horror.

“As Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be
thinking and feeling, and how their lives would play out from that point on,” the statement read.
