Exciting news for all the Paris 2024 Olympics ticket holders! Tony Estanguet, the president of the Olympic organizing committee, made some important announcements regarding the official ticket resale platform.
In an interview with Le Parisien on Sunday, April 14, Estanguet revealed that a Paris 2024 tickets application will be launched on May 15, 70 days before the start of the event.
The Paris 2024 tickets application will allow ticket holders to download their tickets and allocate their seats to the person of their choice. This means that buyers can assign the tickets to themselves or offer them to someone else.

However, it is important to note that this allocation of tickets will not grant immediate access to the competition site. This precaution is taken for security reasons.
Tony Estanguet explained, “After this first stage, you will then have to download your ticket. At the last moment, you will receive a dynamic QR code, which cannot be falsified or sent.”
This additional step is implemented to combat the risk of ticket resale on the black market as the events draw closer. The official ticket resale platform will be the only authorized place for ticket holders to resell their tickets.
Estanguet emphasized that any resale outside of this platform is strictly prohibited. He warned that attempting to enter the competition site with a ticket purchased outside the official platform could result in being denied entry.
However, Estanguet also mentioned that ticket holders who, for personal reasons, are unable to attend the event can try to resell their tickets at the price they originally paid. This option provides flexibility for those who may have a change in plans but still want to ensure their tickets go to a deserving fan.
In the digital age, the ticketing process for Paris 2024 is primarily oriented towards digital platforms. However, Estanguet assured that ticket holders without smartphones will not be left behind.
While no official means have been decided yet, those without smartphones will still be able to access the competition sites using a confirmation or printed paper. Estanguet clarified that this would be the exception rather than the norm, highlighting the overall focus on digital ticketing.
Additional ticket sales are also on the horizon. On Wednesday, April 17, 100 days before the opening ceremony, 250,000 new tickets will be made available for sale. These tickets will be for events where all the previous tickets have already been sold.
