Meghan Markle couldn’t make it to Prince Philip’s funeral due to her pregnancy, but a close friend has confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex is grieved over losing a very close“family member.”
“Although Meghan isn’t here, she is, of course, supporting Harry….her mind is very much on the situation over here,” a royal expert reported and friend of Markle’s, Omid Scobie, a correspondent for ABC.
“We know that she’s supporting Harry in this very difficult week for him, but she’ll also be sad because this is also the loss of a family member for her. She grew very close to the queen and Prince Philip over the recent years. It was probably her strongest relationship within the family and those relations then get smaller this week. It’ll be a sad day for her.”
Meghan Markle also wrote a handwritten note to the late Duke of Edinburgh to be left alongside a floral wreath presented in honour of the Royal Marines, according to The Sun report.
The Duchess of Sussex is expected to give birth to their second child, a girl as they announced during their Oprah Winfrey interview in early summer. Meghan’s doctor refused her approval to travel for the funeral, so she stayed back with their son Archie in California.

After the funeral, Prince Harry will be hurrying home to be with his wife Meghan Markle whom sources confirmed had wanted to attend the funeral at all means but wasn’t allowed to do so.
