Selena Gomez Debuts Large Upper Back Tattoo

Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy, a celebrity tattoo artist, posted a photo of Selena Gomez with what appeared to be a large new back tattoo on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old Rare Beauty founder posed against a graffiti-covered wall for the black-and-white photograph, wearing a backwards coat that revealed the obvious ink.

Bang Bang, who has previously tattooed Gomez, simply captioned the photo, “@selenagomez.”

While the design is unclear, it appears to begin at the base of her neck and flow down between her shoulder blades.

Fans speculated that the design could be a “dream catcher” or a “rose” after seeing the cryptic post. “Can’t wait to get a better look at it,” one user wrote, while another inquired, “Is this for her upcoming project or Album?” Is this a one-time occurrence?”

It wouldn’t be the first time Gomez hinted at a new ink project. After releasing the single “Rare” in 2020, she enlisted Bang Bang to tattoo the word “Rare” on her neck.

A cross on her collarbone, several friendship tattoos, and one of her favorite Bible verses round out her extensive collection of body art.

She has at least one larger tattoo, in addition to her several dainty ones: a thigh tattoo of praying hands and a rosary, which she debuted at the 2019 American Music Awards.

While Gomez has yet to post or comment on it, her new tattoo, her 16th and largest known tattoo come months after she debuted a helix piercing after a night out with friends.
