Netflix has recently announced an exciting addition to The Witcher franchise – an animated film titled ‘Sirens of the Deep.’ Set to be released on the streaming service in late 2024, this new film is based on the short story ‘A Little Sacrifice’ written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of The Witcher Universe.
The story of ‘Sirens of the Deep’ revolves around Geralt of Rivia, the iconic monster hunter, as he investigates a series of attacks in a seaside village. The village is experiencing a rising conflict between its human inhabitants and merpeople from the ocean.

According to Netflix, the events of the film take place between episodes 5 and 6 of the live-action series’ first season. Fans of the show will notice that the Geralt in the animated film bears a striking resemblance to the original Witcher actor, Henry Cavill, rather than the Geralt portrayed in the games.
Excitingly, the film will feature the return of Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, who will reprise their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier, respectively.
However, fans of the games will be delighted to know that Doug Cockle, the renowned voice actor behind the White Wolf in the Witcher games, will be lending his voice to Geralt in the animated film.
‘Sirens of the Deep’ is directed by Kang Hei Chul, who previously served as a storyboard artist for ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.’
This highly anticipated film explores the story of Vesemir before he became Geralt’s mentor. The animation is brought to life by Studio MIR, the talented South Korean studio that worked on ‘Nightmare of the Wolf.’
For fans who have grown fond of Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt, ‘Sirens of the Deep’ may be the last opportunity to see him in the role. Cavill has announced that he will be leaving the live-action show after its third season, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the iconic character.
