French Prime Minister Jean Castex was in Marseille, this Saturday, October 24, where he visited caregivers at the North hospital and said, “this is not a political fight, it is a social fight.” while also appealing to the responsibility and solidarity of the French caregivers in the face of a pandemic that’s still rising.

“The best way to relieve the hospital is not to get sick”, the Prime Minister said while urging the press to ask everyone to reduce their contacts and to respect barrier gestures. He also spoke to a staff that is tired of the current health pressure the pandemic brought, “This progression of the pandemic is not over, and we are still going to have difficult times. But we are going to face around our caregivers.”

A few hours earlier, Olivier Véran explained to the National Assembly – united to extend the state of a health emergency – that “whatever we do, the situation will get worse.”  Everyone needs to understand that the effects of restrictive measures, such as curfews, taken by the government will not have immediate effects on the epidemiological curves.

Let’s not relax our efforts!”, President Macron twisted, using the anaphora “help us”, to stress the importance of respecting barrier gestures and wearing a mask in the fight against the virus.

Macron later added, “Whether you have 50, 100 or 1 million subscribers on your social networks, your voice, your relay can save lives. Help us to call everyone to responsibility: we will only overcome this 2nd wave together!”,
