China and the European Union have agreed Tuesday during a meeting to make productive use of the people-to-people dialogue system to facilitate the relationship between both sides.

The agreement was reached at the fifth meeting of the China-EU high-level people-to-people dialogue, which held via video link and was attended by Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan and Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

Sun noted that deepening people-to-people exchanges is a significant consensus reached by the leaders of China and the EU. Since the fourth meeting of the mechanism with both sides actively promoting cooperation in various fields, drawing personnel exchanges even closer, and people-to-people bonds is continuously consolidated.

In respect of the coronavirus, China and the EU have preserved close contact in medical and health cooperation. They have supported and worked with each other in fighting the deadly virus, which demonstrated the significance and global influence of the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.

Sun assured that China will implement a high-level opening-up, deepen people-to-people exchanges with other nations, and enhance the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Both sides were encouraged to take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the EU as a golden opportunity to consolidate existing cooperation, make best use of the mechanism, and create a number of brand projects to ensure sustainable bilateral relations.

Mr Gabriel spoke so much of the people-to-people exchanges between China and the EU in recent years and assured readiness to work with China in docking strategies, exploring the potential of cooperation, and promoting the people-to-people exchanges between both sides to a new and stronger level.
