Former vice president Joe Biden, on what should be a congratulatory phone call for winning the U.S. 2020 presidential election with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday 10 November said he wants to revitalize bilateral and transatlantic relations through NATO and the European Union which has not been patronized by President Donald Trump.

While vote count for the election is still ongoing, Biden who was declared the winner of the race by mainstream media during the first phone call spoke of future collaboration in fighting the coronavirus, the threat of climate change, and as well as on security and development in Africa, a statement released by the Democrat’s transition team says.

Biden, however, thanked President Macron for congratulating him and expressed his strong desire to strengthen relations between the United States and France. The call comes as President Trump refused to concede defeat, alleging election fraud in major states.

Trump campaign has also taken legal steps to get vote recount and revote at areas where possible in place, as the incumbent president was officially awarded victory in North Carolina days after Biden was projected the winner of the election.

Acting prematurely, Biden has been on a congratulatory phone call with world leaders like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and leader of the United Kingdom Irish government Micheal Martin. And has also received similar messages from other African leaders who poured out their messages on social media.

All Biden’s effort to get power transferred to him and his team by General Service Administration (GSA) an organization charged with transferring power to any president-elect has proven abortive as he has not been officially announced the winner of the race.
