President Trump granted clemency to 143 people on the final day of his presidency. The pardon includes prominent allies, world-known entertainers and many other unpopular convicted drug dealers.

Rapper Lil Wayne, former White House strategist Steve Bannon, one-time Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy were among 73 people granted pardons by the outgoing president.
Those whose jail sentences were commuted by Trump include Kwame Kilpatrick, the former mayor of Detroit who was doing 28-year prison term on corruption charges, and rapper Kodak Black, and 70 others.
It’s not immediately clear why the clemency list omitted the name of former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, whom Trump was said to be seriously considering.
Trump’s last minutes move to grant these offenders mercy added to the almost 90 clemency orders Trump had issued since 2017, which include back-to-back waves over two days before Christmas.
Trump paid more than wrapped attention to the selection of those who truly deserve his mercy and held several meetings over the past weekend to make sure he gets it right. According to a report.
According to a source close to White House, President Trump personally selected who to approve and who to take away from the list, the source added.

President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, who served as full-time White House adviser to her father, reportedly had meetings with advocates for various applicants.
They reviewed their cases and brought them to the Justice Department and its Office of Pardon Attorney for review before the final announcement.
