A tragic accident claimed the life of a young moped rider in Ploubezre, Côtes-d’Armor, on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The 15-year-old, whose identity was not immediately revealed, lost control of his vehicle and collided violently with the stone wall surrounding a local church.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11:30 p.m., with eight firefighters responding in three vehicles. Despite their efforts, the victim was tragically declared dead at the site of the crash, which occurred near rue Jean-Marie-Le Foll in this town near Lannion.

Investigation Is Ongoing
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor assigning the Guingamp research brigade and the Rennes research section to lead the inquiry. In a statement, the prosecutor confirmed that the rider was a minor.
Ploubezre’s mayor, Brigitte Gourhant, who visited the scene, expressed her deep sorrow. “It was a young man of 15 years old,” she said, adding that the tragedy had deeply impacted a family in the community with whom she was personally acquainted.
