
President Emmanuel Macron while speaking about police violence and discrimination in an interview on Friday said, “It’s unbearable” in response to a question on “online media Brut”.
Mr Macron notably judged “unbearable” that people of colour are more controlled than others, “Today when we have a skin colour that is not white, we are much more controlled (…). We are identified as a problem factor and it is unbearable”, he said.

“The problem of discrimination has not been resolved, despite my commitments. When I listen to young and old, those who are discriminated against for their skin colour, they feel discriminated against and the hatred of the police starts there. Mistrust has set in,” he added.

President Macron hinted the launch of a new platform next year’s January, saying, “So that people can denounce in a very simple way. What we are going to put in place from next January is two things. First of all, a large poll like the British does (…) where people can go and say how they are discriminated against”.
In addition, Mr Macron announced the establishment of a national platform with a call number which will be managed by the State, the defender of rights and associations including Licra saying, “this platform will be a reporting platform (…) We will be able to one; report, two; be listened to if we need to be listened to, three; the possibility of having a follow-up if we want to file a complaint”.

The French President, however, assured that members of the police will be trained to take these depositions to achieve the aim for which it was established.
