Neymar Jr was with Barcelona between 2013 and 2017 before moving to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee of 222 million euros.
A Spanish newspaper El Mundo’s report revealed that an inspection from the tax office in Spain hinted Barcelona “did not make the appropriate reductions when paying Neymar’s taxes, according to an inspection carried out on Barcelona which lasted until 2015”.
The tax office in Spain says Neymar benefitted from unfair enrichment, while Barcelona source told newsmen that the club will move to reclaim the amount they are being owed by the Brazilian footballer.
According to a document that was released in September, Neymar has more unpaid tax with the Spanish government than any other person, with debts of 34.6 million euros,
That may not be all as Spain’s fiscal authorities said they’re investigating two of Neymar’s transfers; his arrival at Camp Nou from Brazilian team Santos in 2013 and his mega move to PSG.
Neymar reportedly signed a new contract with the Catalans in 2016, involving a 26-million-euro loyalty bonus that Barcelona agued it was not going to pay after he left for the Parc des Princes, although a Spanish court ruled in favour of the club in June and instructed the Brazilian superstar to pay 6.79 million euros to the club.
