French President Emmanuel Macron while making a speech on Wednesday said despite the re-containment, schools will remain open. However, the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer announced the health protocol for the start of the All Saints holidays recently.

The new reinforced health protocol which is to be implemented in schools will allow the reception of all students, at school, college and high school according to the Minister of Education.

The minister called on parents to provide face masks for their children while assuring that masks will also be available in schools in case of forgetfulness or economic difficulties of a family to obtain such masks.

Mixing up between students will be avoided as much as possible, with arrivals and departures spread over time, and recreation in groups, added Jean-Michel Banquer. Four major issues were addressed by the Minister: 

  • Arrivals and departures from establishments will be “as far as a possible spread over time”.
  • The movement of students in the building will be subject to “movement limited to the maximum”
  • The recreations will be organized in groups and with “maximum respect” for barrier gestures. 
  • School meals will be maintained “by taking care to space each pupil one meter apart as much as possible”.

Finally, Mr Blqanuer reassured everyone that the classes will be the subject of aeration and reinforced ventilation and it will be the same for the disinfection of materials. Of course, hand washing, barrier gestures, and physical distance will be the subject of increased vigilance in all schools to avoid spreading the virus.

Although the minister did not address the reception of half-groups of students only issue which several unions expected him to talk about.
