According to Fox News Decision Desk, Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman will defeat Republican and former daytime TV star Mehmet Oz in the Pennsylvania Senate contest.

Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., announced his decision not to run for a third term, leaving the Republican-held seat open and vulnerable as one of the Democratic Party’s greatest pickup possibilities this November.

Before being sworn in as lieutenant governor, Democrat Fetterman served as mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, for 13 years. Fetterman had a stroke in May, which caused obvious auditory processing difficulties that clearly impacted his speaking ability in the months leading up to Nov. 8.

Oz, a well-known television personality and surgeon, was the Republican candidate for Senate in Pennsylvania. The audience erupted during the pair’s first and only debate, during which they discussed crucial issues such as abortion, immigration, crime, and fracking, as well as Fetterman’s health.

Fetterman sought closed captioning during the debate due to auditory processing challenges, yet he still looked to struggle with his comments. Despite claiming that his doctor cleared him to “perform full duty in public service,” the Democrat refuses to give his medical documents to the public.

“I support Roe v. Wade,” Fetterman stated when asked if he favoured abortion restrictions, which Oz promptly refuted, citing Fetterman’s primary debate in which he supposedly declared he would support abortion up to 38 weeks.

Oz also said that he believes the federal government should not be involved in determining a state’s laws on abortion. “I am not going to support federal rules that block the ability of states to do what they wish to do. The abortion decision should be left up to states.”

“The open nature of our border, which John Fetterman supports, has created a humanitarian crisis. It’s making every state a border state,” Oz said of the crisis of the southern border.
