Emmanuel Macron spoke on Sunday afternoon regarding New Caledonia Independence after the first results show that the “no” category won in New Caledonia independence referendum,
The French President said he welcomed the ballot result with a “deep feeling of gratitude” and “humility” during a solemn address at the Elysee Palace.

“The voters have spoken, they mostly confirmed their wish to keep New Caledonia in France. As Head of State, I welcome this mark of confidence in the Republic with a deep feeling of gratitude.
“I also welcome these results with humility, I hear the voice of those who are driven by the desire for independence and I want to tell them: it is with you, it is only together that we will build New Caledonia of tomorrow,” Macron said.
