PSG announced the arrival of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi on Tuesday, August 10 in the evening, signing a two-year contract with an option for an additional year.
The N.30, which he wore when he made his professional debut with FC Barcelona between 2004 and 2006, will be worn by the “Pulga” before the 19th and then the 10th.

According to Julien Maynard of Téléfoot, the Parisian club had to request an exemption from the Professional Football League (LFP). Indeed, goalkeepers are usually assigned to the number 30 (along with the numbers 1 and 16).

Prior to that, the 34-year-old striker was greeted with a smile from a fan window upon his arrival at Le Bourget airport in the afternoon, wearing a “Here is Paris” t-shirt.

Lionel Messi went through the standard medical examination before signing his contract, before making a quick trip to the Parc des Princes in the early evening, where he notably donned the Parisian jersey for the first time.

Following the welcome, the Argentine will be presented to the press on Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the auditorium of the Parc des Princes, capping off a sequence that no one, neither he nor PSG, could have predicted at the start of the tournament summer.
