The Princess of Wales stepped out today for her first solo engagement since Queen Elizabeth died last month, wearing an autumnal mustard yellow dress by British high street brand Karen Millen — which is currently on sale with an additional discount today only.
The princess, 40, visited the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, England, wearing the label’s Structured Crepe Forever Pleat Belted Midi Dress ($300, plus extra 15% off with code DRESS; originally $376).
The frock has a notched collar and puffed sleeves, a sharply pleated skirt, and a matching belt — and if yellow isn’t your thing, it also comes in black, white, blush, and baby blue.
This is the first time we’ve seen the princess in a Karen Millen design since she married Prince William, but she was photographed wearing several pieces from the retailer before becoming a royal.
She accessorized with navy suede Gianvito Rossi heels ($725) and a matching Emmy London clutch ($420), but she added some new jewels with Emily Mortimer diamond hoop earrings ($894).
Today’s sunny yellow ensemble mark Kate’s return to colourful dresses after a period of wearing black during the period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8.
Last week, she wore black trousers, a black sweater, and a cheerful red coat for her first visit to Wales since receiving her new title.
The Princess wore a medical mask as she entered the hospital to tour the facility and meet moms and babies. She was able to cradle a premature newborn while speaking with a new mom about her experience being treated in the Special Care Baby Unit.
Kate Middleton, who is also the patron of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, met with hospital staff members in charge of new moms’ pre-natal and post-natal mental health as well.
Kate’s involvement with The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which she launched in 2021, was also a natural extension of today’s visit.
