Kim Kardashian is having difficulty rediscovering her personal style. In a scene from Thursday’s new episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the reality star confides in her sister Kourtney about the difficulties she has had getting dressed for big events since filing for divorce from Kanye West in early 2021.
Throughout their seven-year marriage (and nearly a decade together), Kanye West famously doubled as Kim’s stylist, giving her a closet makeover in 2012 (as seen on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”) and designing many of her most iconic red carpets looks.
“I got to a point where I would just ask him for advice for everything, down to what I wear. Even now I’m having like panic attacks, like, ‘What do I wear?” Kim told Kourtney.
While Kanye West styled his estranged wife for her “SNL” hosting gig in October 2021, Kardashian was on her own the following month for the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards, where she was honoured for her Skims brand.
“I was like, ‘How do I wear something that hasn’t been pre-vetted first?’” the star recalled, adding that choosing a look took a toll “psychologically” and that she was “so nervous.”
To make matters worse, Kanye wasn’t thrilled with the leather Skims x Fendi dress she chose, which nearly caused a wardrobe malfunction as she prepared to accept her Brand Innovator award.
“He called me afterwards. He told me my career is over and then he showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar,” Kim deadpanned.
While the brunette bombshell publicly thanked West for “introducing [her] to the fashion world” at the People’s Choice Awards in December, the Grammy winner has since influenced other women’s wardrobes.
Kanye styled Julia Fox in a series of Kim-esque outfits during their brief one-month relationship, and he now appears to be doing the same with new muse Chaney Jones, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his most famous ex-wife.
