Tyra Banks isn’t going to let the haters ruin her latest modelling opportunity after making a come back to modelling.
The “DWTS” host appeared on “Today” with Kim Kardashian this week and discussed their “empowering” Skims photoshoot – despite allegations that her body was Photoshopped to appear slimmer.
“This is something I’ve been talking about for decades. So, me curvier, me damn near almost 50 years old in this campaign, I think it is pretty empowering,” Tyra, 48, said.
Tyra, who made history in 1997 as the first black woman to appear on a solo Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, also discussed how Kim persuaded her to come out of retirement for the campaign.
“[Kim] said when I was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she hadn’t seen boobs that were real and big,” Banks recalled of their conversation.
“She said that that gave her self-esteem for her body. So we had, like, a serious conversation, and I finally said, ‘Let’s do this!’”
Kim, 41, weighed in, adding, “We just had an honest heart-to-heart conversation, and she got to hear what the brand stands for, why I started the brand — and I’m just all about supporting women.”

Skims’ new “Icons” campaign, which also stars Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Candice Swanepoel, sparked outrage shortly after its debut, with fans accusing the company of Photoshopping Banks’ curves.
A lot of people criticized the brand for appearing to edit the photos while attempting to promote clothing that is inclusive of all shapes and sizes.
“Appalled to see the amount of photoshop done to Tyra Banks’ body in Kim Kardashian’s new Skims and campaign,” a series of posts shared to Problematic Fame’s Instagram Stories read.
“For a brand that prides themselves on body positivity and inclusivity, this is low. In what world does editing Tyra’s body into a clone of Kim’s endorse any sort of body positivity and inclusivity?”
