Kim Kardashian has spoken out about the deaths that occurred at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert festival on Friday that left about eight persons dead and more than three hundred injured.
Taking it to her Instagram story, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” alumni wrote, “Absolutely heartbroken for the lives who were lost and anyone who was hurt at Astroworld.
“Just like all of you, our family is in shock by the tragedy. We are keeping all of the victims, families and loved ones impacted in our prayers for healing – as well as Travis who we know, cares so much about his fans and is truly devastated.”
Kim Kardashian finished her message with a set of praying hands, a broken heart and a dove emoji.
During the first night of the two-day festival at NRG Park in Scott’s hometown of Houston, Texas, eight people were killed and more than 300 were injured in what authorities initially labelled as a trampling accident.
Despite appearing to notice an ambulance in the crowd, the rapper continued to perform during the incident. In the aftermath of the tragedy, both he and his children’s mother, Kylie Jenner, took to social media to address the backlash directed at him.
Travis Scott tweeted about 14 hours later, “I’m absolutely devastated by what happened last night. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families and all those affected by what happened at the Astroworld Festival.”
Later, he announced a partnership with mental health provider BetterHealth to provide free counselling to those affected by the tragedy, and his management team announced on Monday that Scott would cover the funeral expenses of those who died.
Kylie Jenner who is currently pregnant with her second child with Travis Scott, wrote in an Instagram Story late Saturday, “I want to make it clear that we weren’t aware of the fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing.
“I am sending my deepest condolences to the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing of everyone who has been impacted.”
