Kylian Mbappé on Thursday welcomed Lionel Messi on social media, just two days after signing with Paris Saint-Germain. Given the uncertainty surrounding the French striker’s future in Paris, some supporters took his gesture as a promising sign.
Taking to his verified Instagram account, Kylian Mbappé whose contract remains only a year with PSG wrote, “Welcome to Paris, Léo”

Since Tuesday evening, the euphoria surrounding Messi’s signing has contrasted with the French striker’s silence, while other teammates such as Neymar, Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria, and even Sergio Ramos have welcomed the Argentine on social media.
Kylian Mbappé has yet to indicate whether he wants to continue his career at Paris Saint-Germain, and the length of his current contract means that he will be free to sign wherever he wants.
On the occasion of Lionel Messi’s presentation, PSG president Nasser al-Khelafi used the opportunity to put pressure on his French striker as the Qatari leader went ahead to say, “There is no more excuse” for leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
“He said he wanted a competitive team, and there is now none more competitive” (than PSG), he added. A pious wish, as long as Kylian Mbappé has not clearly expressed a desire to continue with the French club.
