Oh No! Biden Confuses Trump And Obama, Claiming A ‘Freudian Slip’

President Biden made a “Freudian slip” by mixing up former President Obama and former President Trump during a speech on Wednesday.

“Back in 2009, during the so-called Great Recession, the president, then-President Trump, asked me to be in charge of managing that piece,” Biden told a Pennsylvania audience.

“Excuse my Freudian slip, but that was the previous president. He was the one who started the…anyway, President Obama when I was vice president,” he added.

Biden’s gaffe was quickly picked up on social media, including by a Republican National Committee-affiliated Twitter account.

“I feel like Joe Biden might not know what a ‘Freudian slip’ is,” said Abigail Marone, press secretary for Republican Sen. Josh Hawley.

GOP Rapid Response Director Tommy Pigott tweeted, “What is going on? During his speech today, Biden confused Obama for Trump, called it a “Freudian slip,” and then suggested Trump “caused” the Great Recession.”

McClatchy reporter Bryan Lowry tweeted, “Biden just confused Trump and Obama. He called it a Freudian slip, which would mean he has some subconscious feelings about his former boss.”

Biden was speaking at a Mack Truck assembly plant in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, where he announced his administration’s efforts to encourage citizens and businesses to purchase American products.

“There’s a new sheriff in town,” Biden told the crowd as he unveiled his plan to update the 1933 Buy American Act, which requires federal agencies to purchase goods that contain at least 55% American-made components.

Biden’s administration hopes to raise that figure to 65 per cent by 2024 and 75 per cent by 2029.
