Justin Bieber, 26, spoke sincerely on Saturday as recalls his DUI arrest in 2014, assuring his millions of fan that he’s a far better person right about now, “7 years ago today I was arrested, not my finest hour,” he said on Instagram while sharing a photo of himself in handcuffs.
“Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at god.. I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami,” Bieber continued.
The pop star was arrested in January 2014, in Miami after reportedly racing a yellow Lamborghini under the influence of something. Then in August of that year, Bieber agreed to plead to misdemeanour careless driving and resisting arrest without violence charges.
Bieber who also agreed to take an anger management course and make a $50,000 charitable donation on Saturday said he has leaned on faith amid challenging times.
“All this to say God has brought me a long way. From then til now I do realize something.. God was as close to me then as he is right now,” Bieber wrote.
He continued, “My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you. Don’t allow shame to ruin your ‘today’ let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be. LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART.”
