Rapper Bill Kahan Kapri popularly known as Kodak Black has on Twitter thanked former President Donald Trump on Wednesday for giving him a presidential pardon, taking him out of jail earlier than he should have stayed on a weapons conviction.

The rapper, who was sentenced to 46 months in 2019 tweeted, “I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence.’’

“I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love,’’ wrote Black, 23, while adding that “It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing.”

Black, who hails from Florida, pleaded guilty in 2019 to lying on federal forms to buy four firearms from a Miami-area gun shop. The “Roll in Peace’’ Rapper reportedly pledged in November to give $1 million to charity if he gets a pardon.

According to TMZ, Kodak Black legal team started lobbying Trump when they learnt there will be such move by the outgone president, saying most people convicted of a similar crime as his only get 18 months.

According to the hip-hop Web site XXL, in November, a tweet made with the rapper’s official Twitter account said, “If the President [frees] me, I’m gonna spend $1 million on charity within the first year I’m out.” The tweet has been deleted.
