French police have killed a man who minutes earlier had killed a middle school teacher by slitting his throat in the street in a suburb of Paris after the teacher show pupils in his class cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, which are believed to be blaspheming by Muslims.

However, France’s anti-terror prosecutor said it was investigating the attack, which took place in Conflans Sainte-Honorine, a suburb north-west of Paris.

The attacker who in Muslim belief was fighting for “Allah” was seen by a police patrol team carrying a knife at a distance not far from the scene of the killing. The police shot the suspect dead, according to a police spokesman.

A man who emigrated from Pakistan to France reportedly used a meat cleaver to attack and injure two persons outside the former offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, an incident that reminded people who live around a case that took place five years back at the same place when Islamist militants shot dead employees of the magazine in a bid to retaliate the magazine’s publication which cartooned Prophet Mohammad.
