For many years, the covetable contour and otherworldly glow of Kim Kardashian and other famous faces have been attributed to one man: Mario Dedivanovic, aka “Makeup by Mario.”
And finally, you can get inside his beauty brain from the comfort of your own vanity: His namesake line dropped today on Sephora.com and MakeupByMario.com.
“I’m just so excited to finally share my true techniques and philosophy,” Dedivanovic, 37, told editors last week of the collection.

“I wanted it to be not just for artists; I truly did consider the everyday woman and wanting to make things easier for them and wanting their experience doing makeup to be a little bit smarter and a little more enhanced. So I look forward to, for the first time in my career, actually starting to share those techniques I’ve used over the years that only my students in my Master Classes have seen. No one on social media has really seen my techniques.”
Dedivanovic, who got his start working as a makeup artist at Sephora in 2000, was born and raised in the Bronx to Albanian parents. He first got his hands on Kim Kardashian in 2008, and everyone quickly became obsessed with the sculpted, glamorous looks he’d create. This line is a result of years of dreaming and “manifesting” his goals.
“I’ve been working on this since March of 2017. I invested everything I had into this,” he said. “So if this doesn’t work out, I’m going back to my parents’ house!”
And the artist, who has worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Chanel Iman, and Chrissy Teigen as well as Kardashian, says he did test out the line on some of his top clients — with one caveat.
“I am extremely secretive when it comes to this stuff,” he said. “They didn’t know [they were using my products] because everything [was in] palettes and lab samples intertwined and mixed into my kit, so no one really ever knew, but I did, certainly.”
Indeed, his pal and muse Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to sing his praises about the line. “I am so proud of you, Mario,” Kardashian said as she unboxed the collection. “You deserve this.”
Even though Dedivanovic is perhaps best known for his sculpted looks — you can use the Master Eye Prep & Set ($28) to define the eye area as he does — his collection goes way beyond contouring.
The Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($48) is “the product that makes me feel the most secure as an artist,” he said, underscoring that it works on all skin tones.
Kardashian agrees and called the product “my everyday situation” in her Instagram Stories. “I cannot wait to use this.”
The Master Metallics Eyeshadow Palette ($48) contains 12 chromatic shades, from shimmery rose to deep teal. “When you swatch all of these colors together, all these colors as a story is my dream color palette when it comes to shimmery shades,” said Dedivanovic.
He also calls out his five-shade Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette ($48) as “a little bit more playful” and “more intense.” It comes with a groove to mix and match the formulas for anyone looking to up their at-home artistry.
To really get the most out of the highly-pigmented products, try the Master Metal Manipulator ($14), “which basically is a mixing medium,” he explained. Simply dip the brush into the Manipulator and then use the brush to gather up the shadow, and can help to create an extra-bold look or a more precise eyeliner using the shadows.
And if you’re not a pro but still want a taste of the Mario glow, the artist recommends his “easy and fast” Master Secret Glow Highlighter ($22).
It’s “completely sheer and [adds an] emollient glow,” he says of the do-it-all balm, which can be tapped onto eyelids, cheeks or the cupid’s bow as a finishing touch or on bare skin. “It gives a natural glow as opposed to a texture on the skin … and has a really superior grip; it doesn’t slide or move.”
