The Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly quickly explained that the responsible fighter plane was on an “interception mission”.
The Air Defense and Air Operations Command confirmed that the aviation authorities had lost contact with a civilian aircraft heading for Saint-Brieuc, and as usual, a military apparatus was dispatched to ensure that there was no threat to be feared.
The Rafale, therefore, took off from Saint-Dizier, in Haute-Marne before crossing the sound barrier at 11:52 am above Créteil, in the east of Paris to join the aircraft in difficulty and which risked entering without authorization.
In the restricted airspace above Paris. “Radio contact has been reestablished with the civilian aircraft and the situation has returned to normal”, specifies the CDAOA, which recalls that its daily mission is to protect the French against “any air threat”.
